## 2. How the dubbing pipeline works

1. **Upload.** The user uploads a video file (MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM) up to 500MB. Anonymous users can upload up to 60 seconds and 60MB. Files are streamed to a Modal Volume for processing.
2. **Audio extraction.** FFmpeg extracts the audio track from the video.
3. **Vocal separation.** Demucs separates the vocal track from the background music and sound effects.
4. **Transcription.** Whisper (faster-whisper) transcribes the source audio in its original language.
5. **Emotion and prosody analysis.** Librosa extracts energy, pitch, and pace features from the source audio segments.
6. **Translation.** MiniMax-M2.7 LLM translates the transcript into the target language with context awareness.
7. **Voice synthesis.** Fish.audio S2 (MiniMax TTS) generates the target-language voice, with prosody attributes steered to match the source.
8. **Time-stretching.** FFmpeg's atempo filter adjusts the dubbed audio to match the original timing so lips and visuals stay roughly in sync.
9. **Mixing.** The new dubbed vocals are mixed with the original instrumental track.
10. **Assembly and watermark.** The new audio is muxed back into the video, and a preview watermark is added for the free preview. Payment unlocks the unwatermarked version.

## 11. Referral program (2026-06-26 spec)

Silenis runs a two-level referral program. Anyone can sign up and
participate by sharing their unique link from the Billing page.

- **One-time bonus**: $5 in PROMO credits (not withdrawable) to the
  referrer the moment a referee signs up via their link. Idempotent
  per (referrer, referee) pair — a single referee can only trigger
  the $5 once, even if they re-register.
- **L1 commission**: 5% of the referee's actual cashCents consumed on
  dubbing jobs. Paid to the referrer's earningsCents (withdrawable
  cash). Promo credit consumption does NOT earn commission.
- **L2 commission**: 1% of the second-level referee's cashCents
  consumption, paid to the L1 referrer. Same rules as L1.
- **Top-ups never earn commission.** Cash must be consumed (used on
  a job) before any commission fires. The new workflow (2026-06-26)
  makes Stripe top-up only — Stripe is never directly involved in
  job payment or commission calculation.
- **Two levels max.** No third-level payouts.
